Expansion Project * 7 Reasons to Give
7 Reasons to Give

1. To Attain Security on the Day of Judgment…
Those who spend their wealth in the path of God— then do not follow up what they have spent [in charity] with boastful reminders, or any harm— they shall have their reward with their Lord [in full]. And there shall be no fear upon them [when they assemble for Judgment]. Nor shall they ever grieve [over the life of the world]. (Al-Baqarah, 2:262)

2. To Attain High Virtue…
You shall never attain to [the highest] virtue [of faith] until you spend [in charity] from that which you love. And anything you spend, indeed, God is all-knowing of it. (Al ‘Imran, 3:92)

3. To Seek Forgiveness from Sin…
The Prophet (s) said: “Charity extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire.” (Al-Tirmidi)

4. To seek provision from Allah…
The Prophet (s) said: “If you desire provision from Allah without cessation, give (charity).” (Bukhari/Muslim)

5. To Have the Angels Pray for You…
The Prophet (s) said that every morning an angel cries out, “O Allah, give to the spenders in charity replacement.” (Bukhari/Muslim)

6. To Desire that a Loved One Be Cured…
The Prophet (s) said: “Protect your wealth with Zakat. Cure your sick with charity (sadaqah). Prepare for calamity with supplication (du’a)”. (Al-Tabarani)

7. To Benefit a Loved One Who Has Died…
‘Aisha said that a man came to the Prophet (s) and said: My mother’s soul has departed. Yet I believe that had she been able to speak (in the throes of death) she would have bequeathed charity. Will she receive the reward if I give charity on her behalf?” The Prophet (s) said: “Yes.” (Bukhari/Muslim)
