Community Town Hall Meeting

On October 14, over 300 people attended a Community Town Hall Meeting at the Mosque Foundation regarding the recent Palos Park murders. Shock and disbelief have overtaken the community in light of the unfolding news that two youth from our community have been implicated in the crime. Mosque Foundation leaders addressed the community's concerns,  and parents voiced their suggestions. Among the many suggestions were that parents, especially fathers, should take a more active role in their kids' daily lives and activities; that parents should join or form parent's committees in their children's schools; and that the mosque should incorporate new outreach strategies for the youth in our area who do not attend our programs or services. Many parents also felt that we should utilize services of trained and experienced counselors to help youth cope with the challenges they are facing. |
