Mosque Foundation Completes Another Successful Summer Quran Program

by Bothaina Zahdan

With the highest student enrollment in its past 11 years, the Mosque Foundation Quran Summer Program balances entertainment and education for its 190 students. The staff consists of 20 volunteers and 7 community service youth. The students memorize various Quranic Surahs and Ahadeeth, combined with learning about Prophet Mohamad (SA) and his companions (RA).

This year’s program theme was: أدبني ربي فأحسن تأديبي

"My Lord disciplined, so perfected is my discipline."

During the course of 5 weeks, the students learned how to better their relationship with Allah (SW), their parents, relatives, neighbors and all of God's creations. The students participated in a food drive, collecting 371 items to donate to the Mosque Foundation Community Food Pantry. They also furbished the surrounding neighborhood, picking up trash to promote a cleaner and healthier environment. The students learned the rewards for donating for the sake of Allah by collecting $420 to donate to the Masjid. The summer program trains children to begin praying at the tender age of 7. They hosted a prayer party and distributed prayer rugs and other essentials of prayer to the students. The students enjoyed unique weekly field trips and daily entertaining activities.  For example, the students participated in a bubble show, an animal show, penny hunt, and fun water day activities.

The main goal of the summer program is to foster love for the Quran and help build a strong relationship between the student and Allah (SW), his parents and his community. With the help of Allah and the dedicated volunteers, there is no doubt that this goal is being achieved.
