Arab Bishop Visits Mosque Foundation
Rev. Munib Younan, Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jordan and the Holy Land, visited the Mosque Foundation in May for the Monthly English Program and presented a stirring lecture about the Muslim-Christian relations in Jerusalem. He spoke about the history of co-existence as an example the world can look up to as a role model. He stressed that Jerusalem is a city for all nations and religions to worship God, and sent a message to the Muslim community in the United States to be bridge-builders between the East and West. Bishop Younan, who was born and raised in the old city of Jerusalem, is a leader in ecumenical and interfaith initiatives and a strong proponent for non-violence and a just peace for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Bishop Munib Younan was joined by Rev. Said Ailabouni of the Grace Lutheran Church in La Grange, and Mark Swanson and Michael Shelley, professors at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. |
