Aqsa School Food Drive 2011
by Celia Snowber
In the month of February, Aqsa School had a Food Drive where students were encouraged to bring needed items to donate for the Mosque Foundation Community Food Pantry. As a teacher, I know the importance of teaching the students about issues that affect the society. It is critical that the students learn to care for others, and learn to develop empathy. I was in charge of the food drive collection and I trained and supervised a group of students, who volunteered to help pack the bags after school. The students were fast learners and were able to have the bags ready in three days. During a ten day period, the students at Aqsa School were able to collect eighty full bags of must needed food items for the food pantry. It was a successful food drive!
