Board Member Honored by Muslim Women's Alliance
by Connie Martin
Aisheh Said, a Mosque Foundation Board Director, was among three local women presented with the 2011 Inspiring Woman Award by Muslim Women's Alliance in March. The Muslim Women's Alliance was founded with a goal to empower Muslim women to enhance their own lives and make a positive impact in their communities, following the examples of the four most honorable women as mentioned in the hadith: Aasia, wife of Pharoah; Maryam, mother of Issa; Khadijah, wife of the Prophet (PBUH); and Fatima, daughter of the Prophet (PBUH).
Aisheh Said has served the Mosque Foundation community for over 27 years. Having obtained her Master's Degree in Social Work from UIC, Ms. Said voluntarily provides countless hours of counseling to individuals, families, and youth on a wide range of issues. She regularly volunteers her time giving lectures, workshops and youth programs, as well as organizing community functions.
