Message From Imam Kifah Mustapha -

The Honorable Stress

Stress (Al Hamm), as defined by Imam Al Razi is "sadness or sorrow" (Mukhtar Al Sihah). Ibn Manthzour said, "Al Hamm means the melting down of a matter after it had been solid" (Lisan El Arab). Another term in Arabic also used for stress is "Al Ghamm" or anguish, which means: "Al Karb" the agony or suffering (Lisan El Arab). This term refers to "covering something" (Mukhtar El Sihah). These descriptive definitions can give you an idea of what stress can do to you; it brings sadness which melts you down from within and covers you in worry, leaving you in a state of agony.  Read more...

The recent calamity that has befallen the people of Haiti, the catastrophic earthquake, which decimated the infrastructure of the entire impoverished Caribbean nation, has given us all cause to reflect. The devastation endured by the people of Haiti should not only lead us to ponder on the staggering and omnipotent power of Allah (SWT), but should also remind us of the incalculable blessings He has bestowed upon us all.
