MFCC Ramadan Quran Contest Winners

With a smile planted on his face, Bisher Al Masri was very happy to be one of the winners, the seven-year-boy told his father that he was a winner even before the results were announced.

he believed that with the Quran one is always a winner even if doesn’t necessarily win.
More than 50 participants gathered Saturday October 6th to be judged by a panel of ten judges. 18 young boys and girls participated in Surat Al Nabaa, 22 in Surat Al Hujourat, 6 in Surat Ghafer, and 8 in Surat Alisraa. The panel of judges included of; Sh. Zakariyyah, Sh. Omar, Sh. Ammar, Dr. Mohammad Khair, Natherah Khudaira, Rashikah Hamayel, Shetha Kareem, Seyda Khatir, Ghinwa Martini and Nisreen Farhan. “It was a very tough competition and we had to declare eight first place winners instead of four.” Said Sh. Zakariyyah, who chaired the judging committee. Many people attended the Quran competition, ascertaining the need for more such competitions.


After more than a week of waiting, participants and their families gathered again on Sunday October 14th at MFCC to celebrate their accomplishments. More than 80 brothers and sisters listened to Myesha Tabriz, a first place winner who opened the ceremony by a wonderful recitation of the Holy Quran. Short speeches from sh. Zakariyyah, Sh. Mohammad El Fiki, and Sh. Jamal Said followed. Abdel Baset Hamayel, the MFCC director and Lena Tlieb, the MFCC Assistance Director handed out small gifts to all participants. Ahmad Aduib, one of the MFCC counselors, moderated the event, and announced the results of the competition. The results were as follows:

1st Place

  1. Daniyal Chaudhary
  2. Duaa Mohamed;
  3. Bilal Chaudhary;
  4. Myesha Tabiz; and
  5. Rafif Abuzaghleh
  6. Duhah Hamayel; and
  7. Aala Mohamed
  8. Asma Ali


2nd Place

  1. Baraa Musallem &
  2. Bisher Al Masri
  3. Ikhlas Adi


3rd Place

  1. Ilham Abuzaghleh
  2. Adnan Khan; and
  3. Fatima Khan

 

The prizes were $300 for 1st place winners, $200 for 2nd place winners, $100 for 3rd place winners, and $10 gift certificate for all other participants. The MFCC will soon announce the winter Quran competition, and will start Quran programs as well. The MFCC also would like to thank the sponsors of this competition who wish to remain anonymous, may Allah (SW) reward them and accept their deeds and Sadaqa.
