
Mosque Foundation is a member of (ICIRR)
The Mosque Foundation is a member of the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) a social justice organization made up of 120 members in Illinois . On February 7th, 2009 ICIRR held a member meeting at Casa Michoacan in Pilsen. Mosque Foundation board member Maher Abdelhaq and community member Lena Tleib attended the meeting along with about 70 other diverse community leaders.
ICIRR leaders voted on the 2009 state and federal issue agenda which included immigration reform and immigrant integration (pathway to citizenship, funding for English) as well as a campaign name for the year which encompasses the issue agenda. Mosque Foundation board member Maher Abdelhaq recommended the name ?One Nation, one Dream? and the name was adopted by the members of ICIRR as the 2009 campaign. |
